Contraversy of AirBNB Lake Charles Home Rentals

Renting Your Lake Charles Home For Overnight Stays

AirBNB is a home rental website similar to a bed and breakfast overnight stay that is increasing in popularity with lodging options in the Lake Charles area.  It seems to be the newest craze adding options to those who are looking for weekend space to  rent vs. a hotel room in Lake Charles.  The  Lake Charles AirBNB website offers guests the options of private room rentals and/or entire house rentals with a list of specifications of what is included with each listing.   Lodging choices range  from lake houses, townhomes, private residences or cottage homes.

A recent article highlighting AirBNB overnighting stays makes this idea seem very glamorous and an easy rental option.

AirBNB in Lake Charles has been received with some controversy in many neighborhoods where homeowners don’t appreciate the transient nature of occupancy.  Neighbors who may have seen different cars and occupants coming and going in homes  have filed complaints with developers of newer neighborhoods.   You never know if the house next door or across the street in your subdivision is  having weekend guests  that are renting a AirBNB listed home for a batchelor party!  If you visit the AirBNB website you will see the price range and choices of several Lake Charles properties and homes for weekend rental in Southwest Louisiana

Before you decide to jump on board with the craze of renting  a room or your entire home, it would be wise to check your subdivision restrictions,  Most restrictions will specify  whether  rental leases are allowed and if short term leases are permitted.  Although renting is not always prohibited in subdivision restrictions, the length of time for a lease may be specified.   With the recent economic boom and new residents moving to Southwest Louisiana,  the Lake Charles housing  market does have a need for long term leases of 6 months or longer.
