Lagniappe Living in Lake Charles, Louisiana: The Mantle is a Traditional Focal Point in a Home Especially During the Holidays!

The Mantle is a Traditional Focal Point in a Home Especially During the Holidays!

This is the time of year when stores are filled with lavish garlands, bows, ribbons and ornaments for homeowners to deck the halls of their Lake Charles homes.  The fireplace "mantle" is always the centerpiece of attention and is a favorite spot for our seasonal decor.

The Mantle located over a fireplace is usually a traditional focal point in a home.  Whether small or grandeur the mantle is a place where family treasures are displayed.  Before big screen TVs became popular, portraits were usually hung over the mantle.

Most mantles are centered in the room for attention and  come in many sizes and shapes both simple and fancy.  Lake Charles builders are beginning to install electrical outlets, wiring and niches for Flat Screen TV mounts above the fireplace mantles in Lake Charles new construction homes for sale.

Decorative Mantles are a favorite of Lake Charles Home Buyers.  Even if a Lake Charles Home for Sale does not have a fireplace, a buyer can put a mantle up.

Mantles and Fireplaces seem to go together.  I recently had a Buyer ask me if adding a fireplace would add value to their Lake Charles Home

Why is a mantle a favorite home feature for Lake Charles Home Buyers?

  • Buyers want to be able to put up Holiday decorations and hang those stockings by the chimmney with care!
  • Photo Displays, frames, heirlooms
  • TV Mounts- the men usually over-rule a picture vs a Flat Screen TV!

Do you dress your mantle for the holidays?  This is the time of the year when homeowners put up elaborate decorations in their Lake Charles homes.  It always seems like the decorations seem to grow as you build a display and it can be challenging to decorate your mantle when your Flat Screen is mounted!

True the mantle is my focal point this time of year and I always enjoy seeing the stockings lined up waiting for Santa

Good morning Marilyn,

The mantle is usually the focal point for making a statement about the holidays (not just Christmas). I like to decorate the mantle for Thanksgiving and Easter also :).
